But after the first episode I will confirm that this series is amazing (so far)
I thought Colin Farrell was great as the Penguin in Batman, but I never understood taking a skinny actor who looks in good shape and putting him in a huge prosthetic and a fat suit…especially when I think he looks like some other famous actors who would also be equally good. I also really didn’t understand why this spinoff was coming, and to be honest, I’m just tired of Batman reboots. I only watched it knowing that it was necessary to watch the bridge between the first and second films, and my surprise enjoyment of Farrell in the role in the first.
But I didn’t expect to like it so much
The acting is great, the writing is excellent, and it surprised me with a few quick twists. The biggest thing I liked was is the fact that there was a lot more color in this than in Batman. I noticed this almost immediately, as that was my big complaint about the film (it felt like I was watching it through a Zack Snyder lens).
I hope this continues to be this good because I really can’t wait for the next episode
