When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to appear on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and wanted people who looked like Ford to audition.

Segel told Goldstein that he would at least have to suggest him to Ford first, because he thought he would turn him down completely, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been offered the project, which would attract interest from other big-name actors. Goldstein ended up talking to Ford and selling him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was thrilled nonetheless.

Two episodes out so far and this series is promising, the chemistry between the characters is infectious and sometimes even weird… touching in a way that most shows aren’t and it’s uniquely reminiscent of the “Community” series in those elements. I’m not sure this represents the therapist’s way of dealing with issues, but it certainly leaves room for Jason Segel to address it.
Rhodes, Jason’s boss and mentor of sorts
I wasn’t sure how his character would work in this series, but the antisocial resemblance to Rhodes definitely fits a person Ford knows quite well, given the more timid elements of his “Star Wars” character Han Solo’s mind. It just fits this series like a charm. Sean (Luke Tennie) is somehow too relatable, playing a sort of son to Jimmy (Segel) while dealing with his own family issues with his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell)…
And the music in this show is so good
What I see here seems so alive and the possibilities are perhaps (?) endless when I see Jimmy deal with these things. By the way, the opening theme of this series is so good that I didn’t even skip it when I watched episode 2… Overall, this is a wonderful show and I hope it only gets better from now on.
