Synopsis
A woman who was married to an important politician during Brazil’s military dictatorship is forced to reinvent herself and chart a new path for herself and her children when her family’s life is affected by a violent and arbitrary act. Fernanda Montenegro and Walter Salles’ first collaboration 26 years after the release of Glavni kolodvor (1998), in which Montenegro was nominated for the best actress Oscar.

Apart from a window into what Rio looked like in the 70s, the lifestyle, etc
The film, which lived in Brazil but arrived in Brazil only much later, gives a unique insight into what it was like to live during the Brazilian dictatorship of the 70s. I would like people who voted for the extreme right to see how the dictatorship worked, to experience how it affected people who were less politically involved and persecuted.
And yet some people hope these painful times will return
shows expertly, that subtly, like many small paper cuts to the soul, how easy it was for someone to disappear, how basic rights were violated. It is a very timely film and very important, highlighting a wound in Brazilian society that has never really healed.
